SAP Trends 2025: The 5 developments set to take the SAP world by storm

Just a few days to go – and 2024 will be behind us. Ahead of us lie 365 days just waiting to be filled with life. And bringing new trends with them. We’re therefore taking a look ahead to 2025 and highlighting a few of the most striking trends from the SAP universe.

The 5 most important SAP trends for 2025

Our world has become multifaceted, noisy and, above all, incredibly fast-paced. Trends therefore come and go more quickly than ever before. Nevertheless, in 2025, some trends will be here to stay. We see the following five in particular as major SAP trends, which we’d like to describe in more detail in this article:

– Cloud technology

– Conversion

– Clean Core

– Process consultancy

– AI

Cloud technology

Wait … what? But the cloud has been around for ages! That’s not a new trend! Yes, that’s true, but there’s a new twist to it. SAP’s ‘Private Cloud’ and ‘Public Cloud’ products are set to really take off in 2025.

This means that the functionalities are now right at the cutting edge, and there’s certainly set to be plenty more development in this area by 2025. So you could say that the triumph of ‘Private Cloud’ and ‘Public Cloud’ is just around the corner. And all the supporting systems – from SAP Analytics Cloud to SAP Integrated Business Planning – have now proven their worth and will play an even greater role in 2025.

What is essential in this context is a thorough evaluation beforehand, which reveals whether, for example, a public cloud solution is actually the right approach. After all, there is hardly anything worse than introducing a new system and then, at some point in the middle of the project, realising that your own expectations are not being met. We have therefore devised a specialised consultancy service aimed precisely at this: #asccelerate. With this, we guarantee that the product is optimally suited to the business – whether it’s a private or public cloud. However, our holistic consultancy approach is also vital for the integration of any surrounding systems.

Conversion

As the second SAP trend for 2025, which is closely linked to the first, we are once again turning our attention to the topic of ‘conversion’. Whilst this is not, strictly speaking, a new development either, it too is set to undergo some changes by 2025. Whereas most conversions to date have involved moving from one on-premises solution to another, the cloud is now increasingly taking centre stage.

And that, in turn, means that the conversion process will be simplified. This is because there are now certain technical processes that are already available and tried and tested – and we expect these to be further refined. Projects of this kind will therefore be able to be carried out more quickly and cost-effectively in 2025.

Even though conversions will become simpler by 2025, they are still a project that takes a considerable amount of time and must be approached in a structured manner. The sooner you start, the better. What you need for this is a competent partner. And this is where scc comes in. With our ‘S/4HANA Roadmap’, our comprehensive expertise in various conversion methods and our diverse forms of collaboration, we can tackle any conversion project.

Clean Core

Another key SAP trend for 2025 centres on ‘Clean Core’. This is because an up-to-date, transparent, consistent, efficient and cloud-compatible ERP core is becoming increasingly important. Not only does this reduce complexity, but it also ensures controlled operations and strong governance.

This is the only way to ensure that the heart of the system remains up to date and secure, whilst at the same time covering the fundamental aspects of an ERP system: extensibility, processes, data, integration, operations and the key area of innovation.

The basic idea behind ‘Clean Core’ is that it enables a wide range of software developments to be carried out on the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) without ‘disrupting’ the technical foundation of the ERP system. And we, too, consistently pursue this approach with our own solutions – our toolbox. We are now continuously migrating these software solutions, which we develop ourselves, into the new technological landscape.

Process Consultancy

Being agile and remaining adaptable – this has now become a key competence for companies in our fast-paced world.

And this goes hand in hand with the fact that projects and processes must now be viewed in a more holistic way, for example to successfully navigate transformations, identify potential conflicts at an early stage, or capitalise on opportunities.

For us at scc, this topic is so important that we are not only making it a priority but are even setting up a separate company: from 2025, with scc score, we will be offering holistic process and change management to ensure our clients remain competitive in the future.

AI

No article on trends would be complete without the next topic: AI. And even though this development was already ubiquitous by 2024, 2025 brings a new twist – just as with cloud technology or conversion: whilst the first major AI applications such as ChatGPT and the like were still largely intended for end-users, there are now, for the first time, viable approaches towards the ERP world. AI is therefore making a stronger entry into the SAP universe in 2025, leading to the first tangible simplifications, improvements and efficiency gains.

The AI-supported development environment is undoubtedly a pioneer in the wider AI landscape and within the SAP world – software developers can now use AI algorithms to create a great deal very quickly.

scc isn’t just observing this development – we’re actively shaping it. We, too, have already developed our first prototypes that utilise AI technology. And we’re now seeing the first very positive real-world results in this regard.

"Get agile or go down tryin'". What reads like the title of a new rap album is the motto of our time. Because if you want to continue to exist as a company, you have to be agile and remain flexible. In other words, welcome, allow and manage change. And for this to succeed, it is essential to take a more holistic view of projects, to analyze processes, but also to say goodbye to old ways of thinking and to explore potential conflicts. The topic of the hour is therefore: project and process management, including change management. And for this reason, we have also been dealing with this for a long time.
