Modern tools for every area

Why use multiple tools? Well, not all planning is the same. Two of the most important factors are the time horizon and the objective.

That is why, on the one hand, there are SAP solutions that focus on short-term and detailed planning, such as staff deployment planning, production (sequence) planning or traceability. On the other hand, software has been developed for tactical and strategic planning.

The customisable cloud solution SAP IBP, with its Fiori interfaces, enables information from different levels and areas to be brought together in the best possible way. This provides an accurate picture of the overall situation or demand, which can then be reconciled with the supply chain or existing capacities in the next step. You could say: medium- and long-term planning made easy! Much like driving with your headlights on full beam, this allows you to gain a precise understanding of your planning challenges well in advance.

This increased transparency, in turn, enables you to act more proactively rather than reactively putting out fires. And heuristics and optimisation tools for automated planning support, collaboration features, robust alerting and user-friendly simulation options (‘what-if’ analyses) enable you to work efficiently and in a targeted manner. Where actual data is not yet available, modern algorithms come into play: they generate forecasts based on the existing data. Planning data can also be adjusted manually to account for factors such as new products already in the pipeline or resource bottlenecks.

Sustainability aspects can also be taken into account, and users can, if they wish, integrate SAP IBP with the SAP Analytics Cloud. For planners who do not wish to part with Excel, there is also the option of planning and analyse via the SAP IBP Excel add-in. In this case, too, the planning data is not stored locally but can be edited in an integrated manner via the link in the cloud and is always up to date – Excel planning 2.0, if you like.

Detailed & Production Planning

SAP MP&S (Manufacturing for Planning & Scheduling), also known as SAP PP/DS (Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling), supports you in the operational planning of production lines, plants, machines, staff pools and so on.

This tool thus bridges the gap between tactical and strategic supply chain planning and operational, plant-centred detailed planning. If required, you can plan your production line down to the second using Gantt charts, or utilise interactive planning tools for sequencing or order planning of your orders.

Planning Support
The tool also offers the option of enhanced, automated planning support. This means that the system automatically generates a plan, taking key parameters into account, thereby reducing users’ manual planning tasks to a minimum. Users can then focus on exceptions and critical situations, enabling fundamental decisions to be made more quickly.
FIORI-Dashboards
As with SAP IBP, Fiori dashboards provide management-ready insights, as well as the ability to visualise detailed information in a visually appealing way.

Implementation & Production Management:

SAP DM (Digital Manufacturing) can be used for the final step at shop floor level. This therefore involves the actual shift planning – determining which person is working at which workstation, or which tool is required where.
