Pollmann International GmbH is an Austrian producer and developer of highly complex mechatronic assemblies of metal and plastic, including integrated electronics. This not only makes Pollmann an important full-service supplier in the automotive and mobility industry, it also has an increasingly important role to play in connection with Industry 4.0. For the newest production site in Mexico, the company decided in 2021 to implement SAP S/4HANA.

Goals

The new production site in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, had to be brought online according to plan while simultaneously switching from the existing ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4HANA.

  • Staged migration from ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4HANA according to a greenfield approach and using the SAP Activate method
  • Creation of a system landscape that supports the subsequent integration of other sites

Key Benefits

“A depiction of the processes that sticks close to the standard is very important to us. This considerably simplifies the handling, allowing us to focus on what matters most in our daily work.”

Stefan Pollmann,
Managing Director of the new Pollmann site in Mexico

Results

Compliance with the statutory financial standards

Mexican law is unique in requiring that companies with annual sales of about 11,000 euros or higher make use of a digital tax receipt, called CFDI (Comprobantes Fiscal Digital por Internet). This required the installation of CFDI/eDocument in the FI module. The scc team was able to efficiently support Pollmann here thanks to experience from previous successfully concluded projects in Mexico.

Fully remote implementation

The entire project was handled remotely. Due to the pandemic, no personal meetings were possible at any time during the project, either at the site in Mexico or at the company’s headquarters in Austria. Thanks to years of experience and good collaboration, the project was implemented successfully despite difficult working conditions.
The factory in Mexico started production successfully at the end of June 2021.

“The teamwork and project progress were excellent despite the difficult circumstances requiring coordination across the company and between two continents. The experience of scc as a longstanding partner and its detailed knowledge of the processes in our industry in general as well as our internal procedures in particular proved to be key success factors in achieving the ambitious project goals.”
